Real estate in Quebec with Micimmo

It is worth knowing about Quebec’s real estate terminology: a single-family home refers to a detached house. It can be semi-detached if it is connected to another house by a party wall, or a townhouse if it has an adjoining building on each side. A bungalow is a single-storey house, while a cottage has two storeys. Lastly, a duplex consists of a building with a flat on the ground floor and another one upstairs, while a triplex is a three-storey flat.

An apartment building is a building featuring several rented flats and which has a caretaker. If you own a flat located in a building, it is referred to as a condo or co-ownership: you are the individual owner of the space physically occupied by your home if you live in a condo, in addition to which you share the communal areas such as the entrance and the corridors with the other condo owners, while if you own your flat as part of a co-ownership, you own a percentage of the building.

In the country, you live in a country home or a chalet, which is a smaller version of a country home. Lastly, although the metric system was adopted in Canada several decades ago, Quebeckers willingly use the British system for surface areas: 1 square foot equals 0.092903 m2 and 10.763911 square feet equal 1 m2!
